CANINE VIRAL DISEASES
Viral organisms generally live and reproduce within the living cells of its host (your dog). Your dog can get a viral infection from the air, soil or other inanimate objects, but most viruses don’t survive very long outside of the dog. However, canine Parvovirus can survive for several months in the environment.
Viruses that infect dogs do not infect people, and human viruses do not affect dogs. But please note that the wind as well as people can carry deadly this disease to the dog, even if your dog stays in the house or backyard. And this is why vaccinating your dog is especially important.
Vaccinations are safe, effective and well worth the financial commitment. Many diseases that were once considered fatal to dogs are now manageable due to the use of modern vaccines. When vaccinations are administered, they produce antibodies that neutralize the disease.
